- 1 ¾ cups buttermilk (420ml)
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted (28g) – optional
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
- Create a well in the dry ingredients and pour in the buttermilk; mix gently by hand until just combined.
- Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead lightly until it forms a ball. Shape into a round loaf about 1 to 1.5 inches thick.
- Place the loaf on the prepared baking sheet and cut a deep 'X' into the top with a sharp knife.
- Bake for about 30 minutes or until golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom. Allow to cool slightly before slicing.
