- 1 cup hot water
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (177°C). Grease and flour an 8-inch pan or line with parchment.
- Whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa, baking soda, and salt in a large bowl.
- Add buttermilk, oil, eggs, and vanilla; beat until smooth.
- Stir in hot water until just combined.
- Pour batter into the pan, tap gently to remove air pockets.
- Bake 30–35 minutes. Cool in pan 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before frosting.
