  • 3 cups stale bread, cubed (preferably French or sourdough)
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 4 strips of bacon or 1 cup sausage, cooked and crumbled
  • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1/2 cup bell peppers, diced
  • 1/2 cup onion, chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: herbs like thyme or parsley

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a large baking dish.
  2. Place the cubed stale bread in the bottom of the prepared dish.
  3. Cook bacon or sausage in a skillet until crispy; crumble and add on top of the bread.
