  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp instant yeast
  • 3/4 cup warm milk (110°F)
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp chai spice blend (cardamom, ginger, cloves, black pepper)
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and prepare a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, mix warm milk and sugar; sprinkle yeast on top and let sit for 5 minutes until foamy. Stir in melted butter and egg.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together flour, cinnamon, chai spice blend, and salt. Gradually add this to the yeast mixture until combined into a sticky dough.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth. Let it rise in a greased bowl for 10 minutes.
  5. Roll out the dough into a rectangle and spread softened butter over it. Sprinkle brown sugar mixed with cinnamon evenly.
  6. Roll tightly from one end into a log and slice into equal pieces. Place on the prepared baking sheet.
  7. Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown. Drizzle with icing if desired.
