  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon white vinegar
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • ½ cup brown sugar (packed)
  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 2 cups powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. In another bowl, whisk milk, eggs, vinegar, and melted butter. Combine wet ingredients into dry and mix until smooth.
  2. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth. Place in a greased bowl, cover it, and let rise in a warm area for 1 to 1.5 hours until doubled in size.
  3. For the filling: mix softened butter with brown sugar and cinnamon until creamy.
  4. Roll out the risen dough into a rectangle (about ¼ inch thick). Spread the cinnamon filling evenly over the dough.
  5. Roll tightly from one side to form a cylinder and slice into equal pieces (about 12).
  6. Arrange slices in a greased baking dish and let rise for an additional 30 minutes while preheating the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Allow cooling slightly before spreading cream cheese frosting made by beating cream cheese and powdered sugar together until smooth.
