  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil, chopped
  • 1 can (28 oz) San Marzano tomatoes
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare your ingredients by chopping onions and garlic.
  2. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, minced garlic, chopped onion, Parmesan cheese, basil, salt, and pepper. Mix gently until just combined.
  3. Form small meatballs (about 1 inch in diameter) and place them on a lined baking sheet.
  4. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook meatballs in batches until browned on all sides; set aside.
  5. In the same skillet, sauté onion until soft. Add minced garlic and canned tomatoes; season with salt and pepper. Simmer for 15 minutes.
