- 1 (12 oz) can classic Spam
- 2 cups short-grain sushi rice
- 4 sheets nori
- ½ cup teriyaki sauce (store-bought or homemade)
- 1 tsp toasted sesame seeds
- 2 tbsp low-sodium soy sauce
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
Instructions
- Rinse the sushi rice under cold water until clear. Cook as per package instructions and let cool.
- Slice Spam into thick pieces and sear in a skillet over medium heat for about 3 minutes per side. Pour teriyaki sauce over during the last minute to caramelize.
- On plastic wrap, mold ½ cup of warm rice into an oblong shape. Place a piece of glazed Spam on top and cover with more rice.
- Cut nori into strips and wrap each musubi tightly, sealing the ends with water.
- Remove plastic wrap and slice if desired. Drizzle extra teriyaki sauce before serving.
