Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package (14 oz) dumpling wrappers
  • 1 lb ground protein (chicken, pork, shrimp, or tofu)
  • 1 cup shredded cabbage
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 large cucumbers
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • Optional: minced garlic and chili flakes
  • 1/2 cup peanut butter
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons lime juice
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • Water as needed for consistency

Instructions

  1. Prepare the dumpling filling by mixing ground protein, shredded cabbage, soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and pepper in a bowl until well combined.
  2. Assemble the dumplings by placing a tablespoon of filling onto the center of each wrapper. Wet edges with water, fold over, and seal tightly.
  3. Cook the dumplings by steaming them for about 15 minutes or pan-frying until golden brown on both sides before adding water to steam through.
  4. While the dumplings cook, smash cucumbers lightly and mix them with soy sauce, lime juice, sesame oil, and optional ingredients in a bowl.
  5. For the peanut sauce, whisk together peanut butter, soy sauce, lime juice, sugar, and enough water to achieve your desired consistency.
  6. Serve cooked dumplings alongside smashed cucumber salad drizzled with peanut sauce.
