Description

Indulge in the ultimate comfort food with Sloppy Joe Grilled Cheese – a delightful fusion of savory Sloppy Joe filling and gooey melted cheese, all nestled between crispy, buttery bread. This easy-to-make sandwich is perfect for cozy family dinners or casual gatherings. Each bite delivers a satisfying crunch followed by an explosion of rich flavors that will leave you craving more.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1 tbsp yellow mustard
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, grated
  • 4 slices of sourdough or Texas toast
  • 2 tbsp butter (for grilling)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef until fully cooked. Drain excess fat, then add chopped onion and sauté until translucent (about 3 minutes).
  2. Stir in ketchup, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Let it simmer on low heat for 5 minutes to meld flavors.
  3. Butter one side of each slice of bread. In a clean skillet over medium heat, place one slice butter-side down. Add a generous amount of Sloppy Joe filling and top with cheddar cheese. Cover with another slice of bread, butter-side up.
  4. Grill each side for about 4 minutes until golden brown and crispy. Press gently to ensure even melting, flipping carefully to avoid spilling filling.
  5. Once both sides are golden and cheese has melted, remove from the skillet and let cool slightly before slicing in half. Serve with your favorite sides.
