This dessert features a buttery crust filled with sweet cherries and tart cranberries, all topped with a silky almond glaze and crunchy almonds. Perfect for holidays or cozy gatherings, this pie promises to impress family and friends while evoking warm memories and joy.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups fresh cherries, pitted
  • 1 cup fresh cranberries
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter (for dots on top)
  • 1½ cups all-purpose flour (for crust)
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, cold, cubed
  • 56 tablespoons ice water
  • ½ cup sliced almonds, toasted
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • ½ teaspoon almond extract
  • Water (as needed for drizzling)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the pie crust by preheating the oven to 375°F (190°C). In a bowl, mix 1½ cups flour with ½ cup cubed cold butter until crumbly. Gradually add ice water until a dough forms. Wrap in plastic wrap and chill for 30 minutes.
  2. In another bowl, combine cherries, cranberries, sugar, and flour. Let sit for 10 minutes to release juices.
  3. Roll out the chilled dough on a floured surface to fit your pie pan. Place it in the pan and fill with fruit mixture. Dot with butter before covering with another layer of dough or lattice.
  4. Bake for 45-50 minutes or until golden brown and bubbly. If edges brown too quickly, cover them with foil.
  5. While cooling, mix powdered sugar with almond extract and enough water to create a drizzle consistency; add toasted almonds.
  6. Drizzle the almond glaze over cooled pie before serving.
