Ingredients
Scale
- 6 medium Granny Smith apples, peeled and sliced
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, cubed
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup fresh cranberries
- 1/4 cup orange juice
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar (for glaze)
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1 tablespoon orange zest
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9×9 inch baking dish.
- Toss sliced apples with 1/2 cup granulated sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice in the baking dish until evenly coated.
- In a medium bowl, combine flour, brown sugar, and salt. Cut in the cold butter using a pastry cutter or fork until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Sprinkle the crumble mixture evenly over the apples without pressing it down.
- Bake for 35-45 minutes until the topping is golden brown and the filling is bubbling.
- While baking, simmer cranberries, orange juice, and 1/4 cup sugar in a saucepan over medium heat until berries burst and liquid thickens.
- Remove the glaze from heat and whisk in powdered sugar and orange zest until smooth.
- Allow the crumble to cool for 10 minutes, then drizzle the cranberry orange glaze over the top before serving.
