Ingredients

  • 1 cup (225g) unsalted butter
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs, room temperature
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp sea salt
  • 10 oz semi-sweet chocolate bar, chopped

Instructions

  1. Brown the butter in a saucepan over medium heat until amber and nutty; let cool slightly.
  2. Cream browned butter with brown and granulated sugars until smooth.
  3. Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla extract.
  4. Sift together flour, baking soda, and salt; gradually stir into the wet mixture.
  5. Fold in the chopped chocolate pieces by hand.
  6. Refrigerate the dough for at least 2 hours (preferably overnight).
  7. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment.
  8. Scoop dough into balls and bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are golden.
