Description

A comforting meal of tender browned beef and fluffy white rice topped with a rich, creamy mushroom gravy.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 2 cups cooked white rice
  • 8 oz cremini mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Cook the white rice according to package directions and keep warm.
  2. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add ground beef and cook until browned and crumbly. Use a slotted spoon to remove the beef, leaving the fat in the pan.
  3. Add butter to the skillet and sauté sliced mushrooms until golden brown and liquid has evaporated.
  4. Stir in minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
  5. Sprinkle flour over the mushrooms and stir constantly for 2 minutes to cook the raw flour taste out.
  6. Slowly whisk in beef broth and Worcestershire sauce. Simmer on medium-low until the gravy thickens.
  7. Return the browned beef to the skillet and stir to combine. Season with salt and pepper.
  8. Spoon the beef and gravy over the cooked rice and garnish with fresh parsley.
