- 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F and grease an 8×8 inch baking pan or line with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together melted butter and 1 cup granulated sugar.
- Stir in eggs and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Sift in cocoa powder, 1/2 cup flour, and salt, stirring until just combined.
- Spread the brownie batter evenly into the bottom of the prepared pan.
- In a separate bowl, cream softened butter, brown sugar, and 1/4 cup granulated sugar until fluffy.
- Beat in the egg and vanilla extract.
- Gradually stir in 1 1/4 cups flour and baking soda.
- Fold in the chocolate chips by hand.
- Dollop the cookie dough over the brownie layer and gently press down to cover.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes or until the edges are set and the top is golden brown.
- Cool completely in the pan for at least one hour before slicing into squares.
