Description
Tender beef chuck roast slow-cooked to perfection and served on toasted rolls with a side of rich, savory au jus for dipping.
Ingredients

- 3–4 lb beef chuck roast
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 large onion, sliced
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 6 hoagie rolls or French baguette slices
- 6 slices provolone cheese
Instructions
- Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat and sear the beef roast on all sides until browned.
- Place sliced onions and minced garlic at the bottom of the slow cooker.
- Set the seared beef on top of the aromatics.
- Whisk together beef broth and Worcestershire sauce, then pour over the beef.
- Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours or high for 5-6 hours.
- Remove the beef to a board and shred with two forks.
- Strain the cooking liquids into a saucepan and simmer if thickening is desired.
- Toast rolls with provolone cheese under a broiler until melted.
- Fill rolls with beef and serve with the warm au jus on the side.
