Description

A bold, blackened salmon fillet with a savory spice crust and a buttery finish, replicating the steakhouse experience.


Ingredients

  • 4 salmon fillets (6oz each)
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 tbsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

Instructions

  1. Pat salmon fillets completely dry with paper towels.
  2. Mix smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne, salt, and pepper in a small bowl.
  3. Press the spice rub firmly into all sides of the salmon fillets.
  4. Heat a cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat until very hot.
  5. Place fillets flesh-side down and sear for 4-5 minutes without moving them.
  6. Flip the fillets and add butter to the pan.
  7. Baste the fish with melted butter for another 3-4 minutes.
  8. Remove from heat and let rest for 3 minutes before serving.
