- 4 salmon fillets (6oz each)
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter
- 1 tbsp smoked paprika
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
Instructions
- Pat salmon fillets completely dry with paper towels.
- Mix smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne, salt, and pepper in a small bowl.
- Press the spice rub firmly into all sides of the salmon fillets.
- Heat a cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat until very hot.
- Place fillets flesh-side down and sear for 4-5 minutes without moving them.
- Flip the fillets and add butter to the pan.
- Baste the fish with melted butter for another 3-4 minutes.
- Remove from heat and let rest for 3 minutes before serving.
