- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1.5 cups granulated sugar
- 3 large eggs, room temperature
- 2.5 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 3 Granny Smith apples, peeled and diced
- 1 cup granulated sugar (for caramel)
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1 tbsp sea salt (divided)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F and grease a 9-inch springform pan.
- Cream butter and sugar until pale and fluffy.
- Beat in eggs one at a time until emulsified.
- Fold in sifted flour, baking powder, soda, and cinnamon.
- Gently stir in diced apples.
- Bake for 45-50 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Melt sugar in a pot until amber, then whisk in heavy cream and salt.
- Drizzle warm caramel over the cooled cake.
