- 4 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 tablespoon milk (if needed for thinning)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
- Stir in the red gel food coloring until the mixture is a uniform crimson color.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing on low speed until just combined.
- Refrigerate the dough for 30 minutes to prevent excessive spreading.
- Scoop rounded tablespoons of dough and place them 2 inches apart on the baking sheet.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are set but the centers are still soft.
- Allow cookies to cool completely on the pan.
- Beat the softened cream cheese and powdered sugar together until smooth.
- Drizzle the icing over the cooled cookies in a random pattern.
